Cystocele Overview

A cystocele is often times referred to as a prolapsed bladder and in essence occurs when the wall between a woman’s bladder and vagina weakens and enlarges, allowing the bladder to bulge and herniate into the vagina. The condition is commonly found when excessive straining has taken place (either through childbirth, vigorous exercise or heavy lifting). When the bladder drops from its normal position, unwanted urine leakage is the common result. There are varying degrees of a cystocele and depending on how advanced the cystocele is, a prolapsed bladder treatment may be necessary in order to correct the problem.
