Proteinuria Overview
Proteinuria exists when there are large amounts of protein present in the urine causing the urine to appear foamy. This condition can occur as the result of having an infection relating to the kidneys or having certain diseases or high blood pressure. In addition, people can develop protein in the urine when they are exposed to certain chemotherapy drugs and/or taking various medications. If someone has proteinuria and the kidneys are working just fine, typically, there will be no symptoms or cause for alarm. If there is an underlying issue (such as a disease or infection of the kidney) treatment will be prescribed and a strict diet will need to be adhered to.
